Altus drug for cystic fibrosis
The results of a new study support the safety and efficacy of orally administered ALTU-135 (Altus Pharmaceuticals), a novel proprietary formulation of microbial lipase, protease and amylase enzymes, for patients with cystic fibrosis (CF) and pancreatic insufficiency. The findings of this phase II dose-finding study also suggest that an effective dose is 25,000 units of lipase, 25,000 units of protease, and 3750 units of amylase. The study was supported by a grant from the CF Foundation and Altus Pharmaceuticals. J Pediatr 2006;149:658-662.
