A National Seminar on Production and Processing of Aonla
Aonla is one of the most important arid fruit crop. It is well known for it's hardy nature as suitability to adverse soil and climatic conditions; high productivity and higher nutritive value along with better economics. The fruits are rich source of vitamin C. They are used in the production like sauce, candy, dried chips, tablets, pickles, toffees, powder, etc. Aonla based medicines are useful in chronic diseases, dysentry, bronchitis, diabetes, fever, cough, etc. They are also useful for preparing ink, shampoo, hair oil, hair dye, etc. There is a lot of potential for usage of fruit and it's products in the health and beauty sectors. In this regard, we are happy to announce that a National Seminar on "Production and Processing of Aonla" is being organized by Aonla Growers Association of India, National Horticulture Board, Directorate of Horticulture, Gandhinagar, Gujarat and Gujarat Bagayat Vikas Parishad, Anand, Gujarat on 21st - 23rd November, 2006, at Ahmedabad. The city is well connected by air/rail/road. It has hotels suitable for all budgets. The main objective of the Seminar is to gather the stakeholders on one common platform for Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) for very valuable crop resulting for higher productivity and products with better quality. A souvenir containing full scientific information on Aonla cultivation and utilization will be released on the occasion. This souvenir will also provide opportunity for advertisement of commercial products, nurseries and machinery, etc. Arrangements are made for an exhibition and demonstration of Aonla products and machineries. For anybody connected with Aonla it will be very useful to attend the Seminar and visit the exhibition. More than 160 products are likely to be on display and sale.
