Many doctors say the best way to lose weight is to do it slowly. Make gradual changes to what you eat, be more physically active during the day, and try to get a long, full, deep sleep at night.

Do you have to go on a diet to lose weight, or can you just take a pill? Diet-Rx can help you lose weight with little effort, but first it is important to make some lifestyle changes.

Here are some suggestions on how to lose weight:
Eat a small to medium breakfast each day, consisting of a good balance of protein, fat, and complex carbohydrates.
Minimize snacking while watching television at night. This is the easiest way to gain weight. Brush and floss your teeth so you will be less likely to eat or drink anything in late evening.
Avoid drinking fluids that have a lot of sugar or carbohydrates. Try Stevia Drink that has no calories. Satisfy your thirst with water, sparkling water with citrus, or small portions of 100% fruit juice. Try a glass of nutritious and low-calorie vegetable juice.
Drinking water benefits every cell in your body, it hydrates your skin and helps keep you alert. But it won't help you lose weight. Drinking a cup or two of water either before or during a meal does not impact food intake. The water empties too quickly from the stomach to have a significant effect on hunger.
Eat More high-volume and low calorie fruits and vegetables .
Go for the Grain. By substituting whole grains for refined grains like white bread, cakes, cookies, and pretzels, you add much-needed fiber and will fill up faster so you're more likely to eat a reasonable portion.

Lose weight by eating less
People don't always eat because they’re hungry, but they eat for many other reasons: stress, tension, anxiety, loneliness, depression, anger, boredom. So in order to lose weight you have to focus on diet, but you also have to deal with those emotional factors.

Tips for how to lose weight
Manage your cravings. Most people who have trouble losing weight say control of food cravings is their biggest challenge. If you crave certain foods, eat them in small portions.

Put on your exercise shoes.. Many people don't devote half an hour a day to exercise. Just walking half an hour a day can help you lose a pound or two a month, or more.

Shop for healthy foods. Having nutritious foods readily available makes it easier to work them into your diet. Have cut-up fruits and vegetables on hand. If you have slices of veggies and fruits in the kitchen, you are more likely to reach for them than for for chocolate or ice cream.

Reasons for weight gain in America
A busy, stressful lifestyle with limited time for physical activity leads people to search out convenient, fast foods and prepared frozen meals. Most of these foods are of inferior quality: high in sodium, sugar, empty calories, artificial preservatives and flavor-enhancing food additives.

Consequences
J Gerontol A Biol Sci Med Sci. 2014. Attribution of Causes of Weight Loss and Weight Gain to 3-Year Mortality in Older Adults: Results From the Longitudinal Aging Study  Weight loss due to social reasons was not associated with mortality suggesting that not all unintentional weight loss is harmful. The increased mortality risk of other causes of unintentional weight loss may be related to underlying disease. Intentional weight loss was not associated with mortality.

Questions
Q. I'm overweight and recently purchased ginger. I try to take a little bit everyday raw in little pieces with 8 oz. glass of water. I was told it would help me loose the weight. Also, I take a tsp. of turmeric in a glass of water to help lose weight. Can you please tell me if this information is correct.
   A. We doubt that these two herbs are enough to help one lose weight.

I am 20 years old 6'2 about 300lbs and don't have much time to work out. Is there anything you can suggest for me to take to lose weight? One more question. What effect will creatine have on my body if I dont work out while taking it? Will I still lose weight and gain muscle by taking it and not working out?
Creatine helps with weight gain, particularly muscle weight when combined with exercise. Creatine use would not help you lose weight overall.
