Herbs Found in Passion Rx
Ashwagandha is a shrub whose roots have been used for thousands of years by Ayurvedic practitioners. Ashwagandha contains withanolides which are known to influence acetylcholine receptors involved in dilation of blood vessels.
Catuaba is a medium-sized tree found in Brazil. In Brazilian herbal medicine, Catuaba bark is considered a central nervous system enhancer with aphrodisiac properties.
Cnidium is a plant which grows in China whose seeds are used in classical traditional Chinese medicine. Coumarins in cnidium help relax the corpus cavernosa of the penis.
Damiana
Horny Goat Weed is a plant grown in China.
Legend has it that the name horny goat weed came from herders who noticed goats become more sexually active after eating the plants.
Maca is a root-like vegetable shaped like a radish that grows high in the harsh climate of the Andes Mountains in South America at elevations up to 15,000 feet. For more than two millennia, native Peruvians have used maca as food and medicine, to promote endurance and improve sexual interest and fertility.
Mucuna Pruriens

Muira Puama is a small tree native to the Brazilian Amazon. Indigenous peoples use muira puama for the therapy of sexual debility, fatigue, and low mood.
Passion Flower
is a plant native to North America which has been used as folk remedy to treat anxiety. Recently rodent studies have found that extracts of passion flower had aphrodisiac properties. Passion Rx has a powerful 10:1 extract of passion flower.
Rehmannia herb from China
Rhodiola herb is from Siberia
Shilajit herb
from the Himalayan mountains

Tongkat Ali is a small tree found in the jungles throughout Malaysia and Southeat Asia. Studies show that Tongkat Ali produces a dose-dependent increase in mounting frequency of treated animals. See also LJ100.
Tribulus Terrestris, also called "puncture vine," is a plant long used around the world for the treatment of various ailments. Tribulus may work by relaxing smooth muscles and increasing blood flow into the corpus cavernosa. The relaxant effect observed is probably due to the increase in the release of nitric oxide from the endothelium and nerve endings.

Questions from users of Passion Rx
Q. Can you tell me the difference between Passion Rx and Passion Rx with Yohimbe? Any other differences than the addition of yohimbe? Can you tell me is these contain any caffeine like stimulants? Guarana? I am not interested in any caffeine.
   A. Passion Rx and Passion Rx with Yohimbe have a few identical herbs and many others that are unique for each. Even the dosage of the identical herbs are different. The advantage of Passion Rx with Yohimbe is that some people find that it works for them quicker. The advantage of Passion Rx is that it improves vision and provides a nice, pleasant, energy enhancement. The bottom line is that some people prefer or respond to Passion Rx, others prefer Passion Rx with Yohimbe, and still others like both of them and alternate their use.
Passion Rx does not have caffeine or guarana, but most herbs used for sexual enhancement naturally increase energy and speed metabolism.

Q. I am a professor of biology at a university in Rhode Island and very skeptical of natural herbs. But, having read the herbal information on Dr. Sahelian's website, I recognized that this doctor was quite scientific in his explanation of natural therapies. He seemed trustworthy. I ended up purchasing Passion Rx with yohimbe just a test to see. I must admit I expected nothing. Well, this doctor must know something. The first day I took it I noticed a mild shift towards being more sexual, the second day was even more, then I took day three off as recommended. It was the fourth day when I took a capsule again when it really hit me that this product is potent. I had increased sexual desire, pulsating erection, and I kept asking my wife to touch my genitals since it just felt so good and I did not want her to stop. All it took was one product and now I recognize the power of herbs. Well, this doctor now made me more aware that natural supplements have a role to play in treating sexual dysfunction.

Q. Hello. I've recently begun using Passion Rx, and have noticed effects (positive!) within the first few days. I've decided to take one capsule every other day. I've seen no side effects yet (three capsules so far).

Q. How much of each Herb / ingredient is in Passion -Rx - How does it compare to the The Vitamin Shoppe's product LongJax MHT with Arginine?
   A. Passion Rx with yohimbe is formulated by Ray Sahelian, M.D., one of the most knowledgeable and respected medical doctor and herbal specialist in the world. Many companies try to copy his formulas and therefore he has chosen not to reveal the exact dosages since they could be reproduced by others. We understand that certain people are reluctant to buy a product unless they know the exact amounts of the ingredients and from the marketing perspective Physician Formulas has accepted that they would lose some customers. However they prefer losing a small percentage of potential customers than to have the effective and highly popular formula copied. We have no idea what other companies are doing with their products or how effective they are. We are not familiar with LongJax MHT with Arginine from The Vitamin Shoppe.

Q. At first I was taking Passion Rx every day until I reread the instructions. When taking it everyday it didn't seem to work as well and I was having insomnia. Once I switched to 2 days on, 2 days off, boy... It was amazing how much stronger my libido had become. I read somewhere that the effects lasted even on the days off and that is right on. It's true that it really works even the day after not taking it.

Q. My boyfriend and I both take Prozac and have noticed a significant decrease in libido. Can we safely take Passion Rx whist using Prozac? Are there any known side affects or interactions? Have you seen a lot of success with others who take Prozac and take Passion Rx in restoring their libido?
     A. We don't suggest using Passion Rx and an antidepressant such as Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, etc the same day as Passion Rx since overstimulation or unexpected side effects could occur. If your doctor believes you have a mild case of depression and feels that you can be off the Prozac for a few days, you could take Passion Rx 2 days on, 2 or more days off, or every other day. But do not take Passion Rx and a SSRI drug the same day, we can't predict what would occur.

Q. Passion Rx is this product safe for a healthy individual who also takes Effexor for depression, Ativan for stress and neurontin for back pain. Otherwise, in excellent physical condition. Perfect blood pressure and cholesterol etc.
     A. Passion Rx is not recommended to those who are on neurological or psychiatric medicines.

Q. I used only a capsule for 3 consecutive days and could not believe the "physical added sensation" (kicking in on the second day) - however, i have stopped taking it for the moment, a) because i don't have a partner anyway and the extra libido and feeling/sensation make me restless, and b) because of the extra energy it gives me i find it even more difficult to sleep - which is why i ordered melatonin - it's a bummer Holland will not allow the melatonin - can you believe it? so many (smart) drugs are readily available in Amsterdam !!! best regards, ps: any (herbal) tips on how to fight insomnia are more than welcome - i've tried benzodiazepines but they become addictive and stop working after a while... a vicious circle... ps2: i am very much impress by Ray Sahelian's work (attitude) and forthright information.
   A. Good Night Rx works well for sleep. We suggest using Passion Rx no more than 2 days in a row to prevent the shallow sleep side effect. Better yet, only use it every other day or every third day.

Q. I prefer Passion Rx to Levitra since the herbs improve sensation of the penis and increase pleasure.

Q. I tried a full capsule of Passion Rx two days in a row, and it worked, I did notice better sensation and being more in the mood.

Q. I am generally in good health, however in 1996 I had a mild heart attack. One artery blocked about 50%, they put 2 stents in. Now the stents have blocked all the way and a new artery has grown around the damaged one. I was on beta blockers ,but have been taken off. The only thing I'm on now is Lisinopril 10mg.and GNC's Arginmax. I feel really good, but all the meds I was on (5yrs ago) for my heart attack have sorta token the wind out of the sail. I can get an erection, it just doesn't last long enough to have pleasurable sex. Sure would like to make my wife REAL HAPPY. I am 53yrs old. If this will work, how much can I take, or do you know of another product I could take. My doctor doesn't like talking about this problem.
     A. Most of the herbs for sexual enhancement, including the combination in Passion Rx are potent and can stimulate the heart to beat faster and thus are not advised for those who have heart problems. A gentler approach may be using Prostate Power Rx which interestingly does enhance sexual function in a gentler way, and if your doctor approves you can try a capsule every other day. There is no guarantee it will work. It's better to be on the safe side and take small amounts over a period of time such as a few weeks than shock the system with high dosages. Another help could be eating more cold water fish or taking a couple of fish oil capsules a day.

Q. I would like to take Passion Rx for libido but I am not sure if I can take it because I am taking antidepressant. If not, could you suggest me something else ?
   A. We can't since we don't know your full medical history and don't know the dosage of the antidepressant you are taking, for how long, your overall health condition, etc. You may wish to read the info on depression on this web page, and also info here
Sexual Enhancement. Unexpected reactions can occur when central nervous influencing medicines medicines and certain and herbs are combined.

Q. i am on a SSRI antidepressant medication. My sexual functioning has declined a lot because of depression and meds . do you have customers who take Passion Rx along with meds like  Prozac, Paxil, Zoloft, etc . What strategy do they use to take both? I could skip 2 days in a week of the medicine at most.
   A. There are no easy answers when it comes to the use of Passion Rx (or almost any natural sexual enhancement product or pharmaceutical drug) in those who are taking SSRI drugs or other types of antidepressants. SSRI drugs stimulate the serotonin system in the brain which has a negative effect on libido and sexual enjoyment. Therefore, patients who take SSRI drugs will notice a reduced sex drive and interest. Hence, many search for natural herbs or pharmaceutical medicines to help them back to a normal sex life. One option is to switch to another type of antidepressant that does not interfere with sexuality. Another option is to take natural sex enhancing herbs. The problem here is that most of these herbs have an influence on brain chemistry and it is difficult to predict what kind of effect, positive or negative, they will have on a particular individual. Much, of course, depends of the severity of one's depression, the dosage of the antidepressant being taken, and other medicines or supplements a person is taking. General guidelines can be provided but these are very broad suggestions and will not apply to everyone. One option, if your doctor approves, is to take take a break from the antidepressants for 2 days a week and take Passion Rx or other sexual herbal products during those two days. Another option is to reduce the dosage of the antidepressant and take half a capsule of Passion Rx or a low dose of a sexual herb 2 days on, 1 or 2 days off. Another option is to review the page on depression and perhaps your doctor can switch you for a natural antidepressant that does not have sexual side effects. Most natural antidepressants do not interfere with sexuality, in fact many cause a mild enhancement. The primary ones that interfere with sexuality are 5-HTP and tryptophan.

Q. I had two questions - From what source the product capsule, gelatin is made of? i can only take halal and kosher capsules (only if they are from beef source) . You must be knowing well, we avoid pork strictly. If the source is beef and NOT Halal i can still buy it and remove the contents of the capsule. The other query i had is, what is the overall effectiveness of Passion Rx for men in terms of sexual enjoyment ,sensation and duration of orgasms for people with mild to moderate sexual dysfunction. I have some elderly relatives who struggle with sexual issues , so i can recommend them Passion Rx.
   A. The gelatin capsule used for Passion Rx is bovine source. Passion Rx works very, very well for sexual enhancement. In people older than 65, we suggest using half a capsule every other day, or two days on, one or more days off. The sexual enhancement in low dosages comes a little slower, but this avoids or minimizes any side effects on high dosages.
